For the first time in many years, I am going home for the holidays. My other home, that is, in the United States, where I grew up. Living abroad is exciting, and I adore travel, Spain, and Barcelona. But living here is also a sacrifice in a way, because I miss out on those special moments that my family shares together each year. Christmas is a good example, as are birthdays, Thanksgiving, anniversaries, and weddings

It is unclear what the law on using and growing marijuana in Barcelona is. Is it legal? No. No entirely. However the police seem to turn a blind eye, and there are many bars where people smoke marijuana quite openly and without fear.

The thing about a stay-cation, is there's no hotel room. And therefore, no room service, maid service, or poolside drinks or pay-per-view... While many people in Spain spend sleepless nights on uncomfortable hotel beds, or are being roused at the wee hours of the morning by persistent maids wanting tidy up, I am snug as a bug in my own home. This is just one of the many perks taking a stay-cation has.
