Your holidays in Spain just got a lot cheaper thanks to the handy Spanish Hostal. A tip in Spain and all of Europe: Hostal does not necessarily mean youth hostel. It’s more like a cross between a hotel and a B&B, and sometimes means sharing a bathroom. Here are a few central options for staying over in Spain’s largest city:

INEXPENSIVE:

1: Hostal Americano:

I was on a budget on my first trip to the Spanish capital, and so stayed at HOSTAL AMERICANO. The place was a bit ragged, but my room was clean and there was a bathroom, hot water and a TV.

Address: Puerta del Sol, 11

Price: €45 and up

Web: No way Jose

2: Hostal Barajas:

Near the cool neighborhood Chueca, HOSTAL BARAJAS is another cheap option that will put you right in the center of Madrid’s vibrant nightlife. There are many creative restaurants and bars in this area.

Address: Augusto Figueroa, 17

Price: €45 and up

Web: yeah right
