Big Announcement!

We bring you the best of Barcelona this spring!

We bring you the best of Barcelona this spring!

By The Scoopettes

Are you sitting down? We’ve got two BIG announcements to make! It’s in with the new this spring on The Spain Scoop, and we’re about ready to unveil two important projects that we’ve been working on for months…

This is thrilling stuff!

The first one is Regina’s book, Eat Guides: Barcelona, a guidebook to the best restaurants, markets, cocktail bars, cafes, pubs, dessert shops, wine bars, and food experiences in the city. You may have noticed a bit of buzz around Eat Guides: Barcelona since back in February, when the book’s website launched (here).

Our new guidebook to Barcelona, Eat Guides: Barcelona, will be out soon

So why a guidebook on food in Barcelona? Honestly, because it’s hard to find good restaurants in the city at reasonable prices. Eat Guides focuses on local places, eateries that we, Reg and Adri, frequent and like. Forty restaurants and bars, plus extra food-related tips and experiences, are listed in Eat Guides.

For example: how much should you leave as a tip in a Barcelona restaurant? It’s in there. What’s the proper etiquette for shopping in an outdoor market? We cover it. Where can I eat an authentic paella near the beach? Ditto. Should I order a bucket of sangria on La Rambla? We offer our suggestions.

Eat Guides: Barcelona will be out soon. We’re releasing it for all e-readers, including Kindle, Nook, Kobo, PagePusher, iBooks, Scribed, Copia, Gardners Books, Baker & Taylor, and eSentral. The guidebook goes for $4.99 in digital ink, which we think is a pretty stellar deal for 120+ pages in addition to numerous Barcelona food and drink photos! The idea is that if you have an e-reader app on your smartphone, you can use Eat Guides plus your phone while in Barcelona, making eating out effortless as you tour the city. Of course, if you have a tablet or Nook or whatever, then the guide is accessible there, too.

Another option we’re offering is Eat Guides in PDF through Sellfy.com.

How does the PDF option work? You just go to Sellfy and buy the guide by way of Paypal. You’re then immediately sent the PDF version of Eat Guides: Barcelona, which you can print out (or print portions of), have on your computer (if you plan to travel with your laptop), or upload onto a tablet or iPad.

In the future we’ll also be offering paperback versions of Eat Guides: Barcelona, but we’re starting with electronic ink first. Watch this space for the official launch of Eat Guides: Barcelona soon. Very soon! We think you’re going to enjoy it, and hopefully find it really useful, too!

And if Eat Guides: Barcelona was not enough excitement for one spring, we bring you more news.

The second big unveiling is The Barcelona Scoop: 7 Amazing Days in Barcelona, Spain. That’s right! We’re launching the first of our expert line of Mini Guides from The Spain Scoop, crafted by the original Scoopettes, Nancy Tood and Regina Winkle-Bryan.

What’s a Spain Scoop Mini Guide? We’re so glad you asked. It’s seven days split into morning, afternoon, and nighttime, packed with activities, restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, experiences, bars, music, and hidden hangouts in one of Spain’s major destination cities. We’re starting our Mini Guide series with Barcelona, because The Scoopettes are based here, and it’s our favorite metropolis in Spain.

So why do you need (and you do need it) our itinerary if you already have some ‘big-name’ guidebook on Barcelona? Well, because our itineraries will give you a local, inside scoop that no guidebook can. Also, Scoop Mini Guides are created by us, and reflect the voice and vibe of our blog. Like what you see on The Spain Scoop? Then you’ll like what’s inside our Mini Guides. We cover the biggies in the Mini Guides (La Rambla, La Sagrada Família), but also offer up many insider tips that only a local would be able to tell you.

All our favorite places in Barcelona will be listed in The Barcelona Scoop

Our itineraries are also ideal for folks who are just going to be in Barcelona for two or three days on a short break. For these quick visits you probably don’t want to buy a $20.00, heavy guidebook. Instead, get our itinerary (and a copy of Eat Guides, wink), and you’re well on your way to three awesome days in the Catalan capital.

We’ll be selling The Barcelona Scoop: 7 Amazing Days in Barcelona, Spain, on Sellfy.com and on Amazon. Sellfy.com offers PDF versions of our Mini Guides. How does the PDF option work? You just go to Sellfy (here) and buy the guide via Paypal. You’re then immediately sent the PDF version of The Barcelona Scoop: 7 Amazing Days in Barcelona, Spain, which you can print out (or print portions of), have on your computer (if you plan to travel with your laptop), or upload onto a tablet or iPad.

So that’s it! These are our two huge announcements! We’re really enthused to share these two savvy guides with you. They both represent our passion for our adopted city: Barcelona.

The Barcelona Scoop also offers tips on where to eat out.

Stay tuned for the official release of both guides, just in time for May travel and the summer vacation season.

Found this delicious post after an earlier encounter with Regina’s post on Camping In Spain.

The Eat Guides, Barcelona sounds a very worthwhile project, especially because it focuses on where the locals eat. That usually equates to better quality and lower prices.

Looks like you wont be homesick for Oregon any time soon.

    Cheers, Leon

Thanks Leon. We think it will be useful, too. We travel a lot in Europe and it’s always the same: where do the locals stay, drink, eat? It’s hard to know and a person doesn’t always have hours to spend researching this on the Internet…plus mainstream guides do not usually give this sort of info.

About camping, let us know if you have any questions. We’ve camped a lot in Catalonia.

Thanks Linda. It was harder that you might think. Gained 10 lbs researching the book. :-)

    Excelente iniciativa, ¡felicidades!
