One of my favorite things to do when I visited you last summer--long boardwalks along the sea and people watching! (Not the scary old naked men on bikes, though!)

Have a wonderful feast!! We celebrated on Thursday, of course, and it was a wonderful time. As part of an old tradition, we played the "Real Game of Life". Ask Regina...it is interesting and a good way to get to know each other and see how we do in adversity! The one with the most smiley faces wins. Alas, at the end war was declared and the game ended with nukes...but by that time we were all tired of playing anyway!

Yes, the pickpockets are cheeky...remember last summer when we were sitting at lunch and watched that guy steal a camera? He was then chased down the street and almost beaten up! Again, not sure if I felt sorry for him or not. Your story reminded me why I always keep a bit of spare money and a copy of my passport hidden in my bra!

Thanks for your comments. Yes, Zafron tells a good story. I haven't read his newest book yet though.

Best,

SHADOW OF THE WIND by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

I loved this book. Oh to be able to wander in those streets. A thriller without loads of violence and swearing - brilliant. A little history a bit of romance and a thumping great tale.

Lanzarote is truly beautiful, we have a wide variety of white and golden sandy beaches as well as a couple of black sand / rock ones, the landscape although volcanic is a myriad of colours and shapes and in spring the hills come alive with wild flowers turning the island green. Most of our buildings are low and white thanks to César Manrique and he left us some amazing legacies in the shape of tourist attractions that take the best of the natural elements fire, wind and water. If you haven't been to Lanzarote - you should!

Call me old, too. My head hurts a bit when I think of all that cheap wine and deafing music until 4 AM. Even when I was 23 it was a bit much, but for sure it is never boring to be in Spain!! It is good to be selective and discriminating!

Mingled with Anarchists this weekend at several workshops. Interesting...they are not as "disorganized" as I thought! In fact, the ones I met had 50 pages of "bylaws" to run their co-opt! Learned a lot about a different way to think...and wish I could discuss this with the Barcelona ararchy movement (old and new)!

Jazz Si is still up in running Sara! Do go and check it out. If you'll be here in October then you'll be in for plenty of other treats too. Do make sure to get to Jazz Si early to get it. Also consider Harlem Jazz Club for live music, and a Halloween live concert with The Gangsters of Love at Sala Monestario on the 31st.

Best,
