I was recently at an AMAZING yoga retreat in the mountains of Andalusia at a fabulous farmhouse deep in the countryside. For many days Barcelona’s constant din was replaced by the sound of wind in the trees and frogs splashing about in a pool on the property. The nearest town to the retreat was Comares, a hill village with extensive views of the mountains and the Mediterranean.
Comares sits atop Mount Santopitar at about 740 meters. You’ll find the remains of a Moorish fortress there, which was one of the most important in the region. You’ll also find the restaurant / bar Molino de los Abuelos there, which is the place to hear live music on the weekends or have a coffee after poking around the town. You need a car to get to Comares, so check out Car Hire Spain for a rental. Word to the wise: these are curvy roads!
Here are some photos to give you a little inspiration to check it out. Scoopometer 9 for remote Spanish hilltop village factor!

This is a lovely village in the Monte de Malaga. I went on a walking tour around here when I attended a cookery course with http://www.larosilla-catering.com
Great food. Great views. Enjoy : )
Hey Lisa, yes there are great views there. You can see a peak in the distance, its name escapes me, which had a bit of snow when I was there.
