CNT Anarchist Book Shop in Barcelona
When people come to visit me in Barcelona, they usually ask, ‘So, where can we see some Flamenco?’ I tell them, ‘In Granada,’ which is in the south of Spain.
Spain’s regions are very different from each other, and Catalunya is not known for Flamenco. It is however, known for anarchy, revolution and innovation. So, when in Barcelona the right sort of concert to see is Acoustic Anarchy, an event taking place every month or so in the city.
What is Acoustic Anarchy you may wonder? Good question. It’s a group of musicians, some whom before the show have never met, getting together to create music a few hours before they all perform it in front of an audience – you and me. Live Music in Spain, Acoustic Anarchy 2009
It’s improv. It could be chaotic. It’s fun. Lucky for us there is an Acoustic Anarchy show coming up this October 10th, 2009, so be sure not to miss it. The musicians are from all over the world and specialize in different genres. Indeed, this should be an interesting evening celebrating the true Barcelona spirit.

Mingled with Anarchists this weekend at several workshops. Interesting…they are not as “disorganized” as I thought! In fact, the ones I met had 50 pages of “bylaws” to run their co-opt! Learned a lot about a different way to think…and wish I could discuss this with the Barcelona ararchy movement (old and new)!
Wish I could have been there too. Sounds interesting. Oregon and Barcelona are two of the largest Anarchy bases internationally.
