Museums in Barcelona – MNAC
By Regina Winkle-Bryan
VIEWS FROM MNAC - BARCELONA, SPAIN
With so many art museums in Barcelona it can be a tough choice when deciding where to go. While the Picasso Museum gets a lot of visitors I don’t personally think it comes close to compare with MNAC, which is far more representative of Catalan artists. The Modern Art section is where I like to spend time, gazing at works by Granadina, Nonell, Casas, and even our man Picasso.
After touring MNAC have a coffee on its front terrace and take in the view of Barcelona and the steps leading down to Pl. Espanya. Watch out for cats! Probably because of its forest-like setting, MNAC and Pl. Espanya are crawling with kitties which dash in and out of the bushes on the museum’s grounds.
Where: Montjuïc Mountain
What: Collection of Catalan Fine Art
When: Tue – Sat: 10 to 7pm; Sun: 10 to 2:30pm; Mon: closed
MNAC CAT - BARCELONA
Why? Because we love art!
How: Take the green metro line to Plaza Espanya and walk up. Or, take the green line to Parallel and then the tram to the top to walk down.
How Much: €8.50, 2 days, also consider buying the Articket!
