1998 marked the first year of PhotoEspaña, International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, and it has been getting raves from prestigious critics as one of the best forums on photography in the world. More than 600,000 people now attend the festival which provokes with videos, installations, and educationsal programs. Artists will represent 44 countries.
Famous and emerging photogrpahers will show their stuff in over 74 venues in Madrid. One rarely needs calendars in Spain, but for Madrid travel, check out this outstanding exhibition from June 6 to July 22th. The video shows at interview with Ron Galella from last years PhotoEspaña.
An amazing array of events include: Debates, photography workshops, lectures, guided toures, screenings, portfolio reviews.
Held in theatres, parks, stores, galleries, and museums plus lots hopping in the Chueca neighborhood. Exhibits also included in The Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Telefonica Foundation, and the Botanical Gardens. PhotoEspaña Madrid, A Scoopometer 10 all the way.
